The meatcrafter founder

Who are we?

The Meat Crafter is based in Cashel, Co. Tipperary and was set up by Mcalvin Makalichi with aim to produce a ready to eat handcrafted healthy dried beef snacks made from 100% Irish Beef. Having moved to Ireland in 2008, Mcalvin attained an honours degree in business management in Institute of Technology Tallaght. During his transition year in secondary school, he participated in long distance running and, seeking a healthy lifestyle, he conducted some research on products which he could consume that were high in protein. He found out biltong was healthy and a high in protein snack, unfortunately there was none on the market at that time. Being a meat lover and remembering how his grandma used to make biltong back home, he invested in a small dehydrator machine and started making small batches from his mother’s kitchen using his grandma’s southern African traditional recipe.
